Overview
The Cambridge International Diploma for Teachers and Trainers is relevant to everyone in a teaching role, across all education and training contexts and all types of learning programs. It is an internationally-recognized diploma in teaching and training.
Objective
To be effective, teachers and trainers need to have expertise in many different teaching styles: from supportive guidance to formal explanation, from individual to group work, and from face-to-face to online interaction. They need to be able to design learning programs and activities that meet the differing needs of their learners. They must manage and design a wide range of learning activities appropriately to encourage active learning. They should be able to assess their learners’ needs, progress and achievements fairly and accurately and provide constructive feedback. Last but not least, they will need to evaluate the learning program and their own performance in order to make improvements for the future.
This is the cycle of teaching – it is much more than deploying particular techniques and approaches. It involves reflective practice, underpinned by an understanding of pedagogic principles and theory. The aim of the Diploma is to assess a candidate's competence in a range of learning and development activities.
Modules
The Diploma is based on four modules, which correspond to the key stages in the teaching and learning cycle. Each module sets out performance standards and criteria covering related skills, knowledge and understanding.
