To be effective, teachers and trainers need to have expertise in many different teaching styles: from supportive guidance to formal explanation, from individual to group work, and from face-to-face to online interaction. They need to be able to design learning programs and activities that meet the differing needs of their learners. They must manage and design a wide range of learning activities appropriately to encourage active learning. They should be able to assess their learners’ needs, progress and achievement fairly and accurately and provide constructive feedback. Last but not least, they will need to evaluate the learning program and their own performance in order to make improvements for the future.
